This means, that as they say in this good old wise proverb “if you fail to plan, then you plan to fail”. So, my young padawans, let’s see if the old wise contractor Joe still has what it takes to teach you all a good lesson or two in home renovation and remodeling. That also means, that putting all the obvious stuff aside, the plan that you will need will vary depending on the specific type of renovation you wanna do. Basically, this is why I am gonna guide you through on a universal one.

But before we can actually begin any kind of construction or renovation work, we’ll have to have a kit of tools, wouldn’t we? So, you ask, what construction tools are the most essential ones to have nearby when we’re talking about home remodeling? The list can be bigger than I list it here, depending on the specific project, but here’s a short one: a hammer; set of nails; drill; power drill; hot guns; tool pouch; safety glasses; extension cords; demolition bars; brooms; cleaning supplies and products.

“ Also, despite this list having all the most basic equipment and hardware that you might need, it’s important to have some extra tools, just if you’ll need one – like a screwdriver, e.g. ”

So, before we get started with the good stuff – let’s first assess the short-term overall cost of undertaking a project that you’ll suffer, just as well as the long-term benefits that you might enjoy. So are there any other ways to be more efficient? Sure! Purchasing only quality construction materials (or testing them before you build) is one surefire way to avoid multiple repairs, repaints, and replacements in the short-term future.

Getting pumped about the tools!

Well, when your plan, your tools kit, your house and yourself are all ready to get handy, the only thing left is deciding on what room of the house will start with first. The rule of thumb is first starting with smaller ones, or those where you’ll need to actually do less works in… Also, taking into account such materials as the paint or similar ones, making sure that you have some little extra of those is always a great idea. On top of that keep in your mind, that any construction project that involves a lot of different stages in it will have some tasks with a higher priority. For example, working the windows and doors, then walls and then everything else should be your basic home renovation rule. If we are talking about home improvement works, then the seasonality will play a bigger part in prioritizing those. All in all, making sure to actually plan it out will help it to eventually work out on the schedule.

Another good thing to keep in mind is that when you’re trying to decide on which paint to choose, or which design feature to pick out of all the abundance of options – a multitude of opinions matters. But we’re not talking about the contractors this time. This time we mean consulting with your friends, family members and colleagues – with actually, the more people are involved in the discussion, the better options you’ll be able to eventually pick.
